Superintendent, USS Arizona Memorial
Doug Lentz graduated
from the University of Montana in 1985 with a BS in Recreation Resource
Management, part of the school of Forestry. During his college years,
Doug held several seasonal positions with the Departments of Agriculture
and Interior. His first permanent position with the National Park
Service was at the Liberty Bell in
Historical Park (NHP). As a Park Ranger he transferred to
Harpers Ferry NHP in
West Virginia. While in this position Doug completed the Law Enforcement
for Land Management Agencies course at the
Federal Law Enforcement Training
Center in Glynco, Georgia and has been a commissioned federal
officer ever since.
Doug lateralled to
Yellowstone National Park
in 1989 to fulfill a lifelong dream of being a Backcountry Park Ranger.
In 1999 he was promoted into a Management Assistant position at
Hawaii Volcanoes National
Park. While in this position he was one of twelve National Park
Service (NPS) employees selected nationwide for the Department of the
Interior Team Leadership Program. In July of 2002 he advanced to his
current job as the Superintendent of the USS Arizona Memorial.
