About This Event

New for 2024, we pulled out all of the molecular, atomic, and quantum aspects of our popular summer camps to introduce participants to the life on the farm that happens beneath the hood of nature. We will be exploring the relationships between energy and all matter from the level of ecosystems, down to the quarks and electronics and the weird but useful way they can be used at Mezzacello Urban Farm. Quantum Effects extends all our summer camps with practical hands-on ways of visualizing how life builds on itself.

Quantum systems that will be studied include the biomimicry of insect wings and chicken eyes and how they influenced digital photography. Study quantum tunneling and the impact that it has on energy production, DNA synthesis, and protein folding. Lastly, explore light, color, and the role of the visible and invisible spectrums on chlorophyll, nitrogen fixation, water synthesis, and molecular bonding.

A prior knowledge of quantum physics is not necessary. If you are at all curious about life, there will be something for you in this program!

The key focus of this camp is exploring the molecular and physical mechanics which underly our entire society and our work at Mezzacello. The integration of design thinking, chemistry, simple processes, and biological systems, as well as Robotics, Automation Systems, Data and Modeling Tech, and energy systems allow participants to better achieve sustainability. There will be mud, manure, dirt, and live animals as well as power generation, chemistry, robots, sensors, power systems, and biology labs. The math is baked into the experience – just like it is in nature.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE:

The camp requires that all students come prepared to learn on a working farm and use tools responsible way. That means long pants and access to sterilizable rubber boots.

If these are not available, a pair can be provided for a nominal extra fee.

Experience with animals is a plus, but NOT mandated.

Program sold out? You can register to be on our waitlist. We will notify you if a spot opens up!
