Passion Driven Learning Experiences

Expert Mentorship

PAST offers diverse work-based learning opportunities, including the “Power Up Your Potential” program. This initiative ignites students’ passion for STEM careers and equips them with skills to thrive in the workforce. Students explore STEM disciplines, collaborate with industry professionals, and solve real-world challenges.

 

Over 500 students have participated, earning 850+ industry certifications in fields like Information Technology, Drone Flight, CAD and Additive Manufacturing, Cybersecurity, Financial Literacy, and Media Production. The program emphasizes technical competencies and essential soft skills such as collaboration and problem-solving. By partnering closely with industry leaders and mentors, students gain invaluable insights and experiences that shape their future pathways.

PAST is eager to work with you to develop your own workforce program by helping you to build your own toolkit that includes:

Educator Credential Training:

The STEM Educator Workforce Collaborative empowers educators with industry-recognized credentials (IRCs) and essential skills for immersive STEM learning experiences. Through collaborative, hands-on approaches, educators gain expertise to design and deliver impactful STEM curriculum, preparing students for future careers.

Since inception, the program has grown significantly, engaging over 375 educators from 32 Ohio counties. It has directly impacted over 125,000 students, equipping them with essential STEM knowledge and skills.

Career Exploration & Awareness

Introducing students to various STEM career paths through real-world problem-solving and exploration.

Integration: Emphasize the importance of student agency and culturally relevant education to make career exploration meaningful and personal.

Applying STEM principles to solve real-world problems, fostering critical thinking and creativity.

Integration: Use the concept of “wicked problems” to engage students in complex, real-world challenges that require innovative solutions.

Industry Partnerships

Collaborating with 500+ business and industry partners to provide mentorship, internships, and job shadowing opportunities.

Integration: Ensure partnerships are aligned with transdisciplinary teaching and learning to provide holistic educational experiences.

Immersive Experiences

Combining online learning with hands-on programs to provide deep, engaging learning experiences.

Integration: Use gamification and culturally relevant pedagogy, such as Hip-hop culture, to make immersive experiences more relatable and engaging.

Future Focused Skill Development

Progressive skill-building from career awareness to internships, ensuring students develop critical skills at each stage.

Our Workforce Integration Coaching supports schools, districts, and communities in implementing robust workforce development programming. Through a train-the-trainer model, educators and community leaders acquire tools to foster student-centered learning, authentic projects, and skill verification.

 

The program emphasizes the importance of community and industry involvement in educational experiences, preparing students for the workforce. By fostering partnerships and collaboration, schools and districts can create impactful learning environments that inspire and empower students to pursue STEM careers.
